Hi Guys,
I've been hearing lately about a crash in Smart Bro. The crash occurs after starting Smart Bro and browsing for a minute. I tried myself to reproduce this problem, but I don't see it.
Does anyone face this problem? Maybe Vista users?
Waiting for your reply guys.
Thanks Demi, Anyone else?
that's realy weird. I received couple emails reporting this
Thanks Gary,
What is your operating system ? if you disabled the "Check if Smart Bro is the default Internet browser" from general options, does the problem keep coming? How about disabling "Check for new updates online" (general options) or disable "check for new feeds at startup" (RSS Reader options) ?
please let me know how things go.
Hi Yienwae,
It seems that Smart Bro fails to install itself as your default browser on Windows Vista. We will look into this. Mean while, did you try to disable this using Menu->View->Options->General->Check if Smart Bro is the default browser at startup.
Yienwae,
Do you have an adminstrator account on your machine? Can you please double check this?
By the way, is Smart Bro your default browser now? I mean, if you double clicked a .html file on your desktop, does Smart Bro open the file, or another Internet Browser?
thanks Yienwae for the help.
Thank you very much Yienwae for the sweet words. I hope we will be able to fix the problem soon.
thank you.
Link,
I think it has to do with something that Smart Bro is trying to preform at startup, can you please follow these simple steps and let me know if they solve your problem:
1. From Menu, choose view->options->General then make sure that both "Check if Smart Bro is the default... " and "Check for new program updates online" options are un-checked.
2. Now again in the options dialog, go to "RSS Reader" and make sure that the option "Check for new feeds at startup!" is un-checked.
3. Now press OK
4. Restart Smart Bro.
5. Does this solve your problem?
Please try this and let me know the result.
Thank you very much mlandr. Let me ask you this... if you could have one extra feature in Smart Bro. What would it be?
Hi Yienwae,
This is a problem on windows vista and it seems harder than it looks. I hope we will be able to solve this soon and sorry for the inconvenience.
