are you pertain into the 100Mbps or 10Mbps LAN speed? If yes then is doesn't matter if you have the 10 or the latter. Because it is the capacity of your Ethernet Card to handle the data.
About the Trojan, I think it is not fair to blame your ISP about it. You must install you own security measures to avoid these unwanted elements. I am using BitDefender on my SMARTBRO connection.
