I've used Smartbro for over a year now, and my wife used it for a year prior to that. I'm from the US and live here now. Until yesterday I have not experienced any major problems with the ISP, but now I get Explorer can not display the webpage when I search, and my Outlook email client can no longer download my email from the US. Everything worked just fine until yesterday. Called Smartbro on *1888 and reported to problem and they walked me through setup by taking my wireless router out of the system. Seemed to work but when I hooked my router back in the same problem occurs. I use a linksys wireless G router, with 2 computers hardwired and 2 computers wireless. There has to be something new with the server, as this setup has worked fine for over a year. Any assistance is much appreciated.
Well just after I posted that, it started working which means this is an intermittant problem. I'll watch for it to occur again, but if anyone has a suggestion please let me know.
This seems to be a problem with the Smartbro server. Several times today I fixed this, but the problem keeps coming back. I've run a virus scan with AVG 8.0 and have no virus on the computer, deleted cookies. I continue to need to log on to the bro-portal.smartbro.net to login before I can access the internet. Does anyone know what is happening?????

hi! if you continuously being redirected to smartbro portal... i suggest that you call *1888... give them the error code that is being displayed on your screen after logging to the portal.. there is a corresponding troubleshooting step on a specific error code... bts just a tip. since your using a router...after being connected using single pc connection (i know it'll work) simply hook up you router but you have to connect only one computer first.. then try to login again to the portal... (this process will register your router's MAC address to the basestation, after that if you can connect now to the web.. try hooking up the other computer... it will work just fine...
hope this help..

I was already informed that SMARTBRO resident account is really designed for a SINGLE PC connection only. SMARTBRO can't stop us to refrain using a router to share the connection. I think you need to configure your router well and the other workstations. Once the SMARTBRO line is being activated into a PC then link in into your router. All other clients that will connect to your router should be redirected to portal for authentication process. After the process all will be happy surfing the internet.
